Children’s Program
Support for children, youth, and families—rooted in connection, dignity, and belonging.
WIN’s Children’s Program supports children and youth who benefit from extra help to build skills, confidence, and meaningful relationships. We work alongside families and community partners to provide consistent, respectful support that grows with the child.
What we offer
Individualized Child & Youth Support
We provide one-to-one support focused on helping children and youth:
-
Build daily living and self-care skills
-
Strengthen communication and social connection
-
Develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
-
Participate safely and confidently in their community
-
Build independence at a pace that feels achievable
Supports are tailored to the child’s strengths, interests, and goals.
Respite Support
Caring for a child with additional needs can be demanding. Our respite supports are designed to give caregivers time to rest and recharge, while ensuring children are supported by familiar, respectful staff.
Respite may include:
-
Planned short-term support in the community or home
-
Relationship-based care that prioritizes safety and comfort
-
Consistent routines to reduce stress for the child
-
Clear communication with caregivers before and after support
Our goal is to support the whole family—not just the child.
Transition to Adulthood
As children grow into teens and young adults, supports often need to shift. We help youth and families prepare for this transition in thoughtful, gradual ways.
Transition support may focus on:
-
Increasing independence and life skills
-
Exploring interests, strengths, and future goals
-
Preparing for adult programs, employment, or community involvement
-
Supporting confidence, self-advocacy, and decision-making
-
Helping families navigate change with clarity and reassurance
We recognize that transition looks different for every young person and family.
Who the program is for
Our Children’s Program may be a good fit for families who are looking for:
-
Relationship-based, consistent support
-
Help with routines, transitions, or community participation
-
Respite that feels safe and reliable
-
Support planning for adolescence and adulthood
-
A team that values dignity, choice, and a child’s voice
Funding & eligibility
Children’s programming at WIN is funded through Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) contracts.
Access to supports is dependent on:
-
An active FSCD agreement
-
Available contract capacity
-
Alignment between the child’s needs and available supports
If you are unsure whether your child is eligible, we are happy to talk through options and next steps.
